Raynor opener logic board repair in Houston typically runs $120 – $320 installed, and most jobs are done in a single visit because we carry common Raynor-compatible boards on the truck. The logic board is the brain inside your opener’s powerhead, the flat green or blue circuit board that reads the signal from your wall button and remote, then tells the motor to run. When it fails, you’ll usually notice the opener acting like it’s lost its mind: lights flashing, the motor humming without moving, or the door ignoring the remote but working from the wall button, or the other way around.
Which Raynor Models This Applies To
Raynor builds openers under the Pilot, Navigator, and Aviator lines, plus a handful of contractor-grade models sold through independent dealers. The logic board inside them isn’t universal, and that’s where most Houston owners get tripped up. Raynor has used boards made by Chamberlain over the years, but the connectors and mounting points differ between the Pilot II and the newer Pilot III, so a board pulled from one won’t always seat into the other. If you flip open the light cover on the powerhead, you’ll find a white manufacturer sticker with the model number and often a part number starting with “RCO” or “108.” Snap a photo of that sticker before you call anyone. It saves a wasted trip and tells us exactly which board revision your opener needs.
We install both genuine Raynor boards when they’re still available and quality aftermarket equivalents that match the original voltage and pin layout. For older Raynor models where Raynor has discontinued the part, a matched aftermarket board is often the only realistic option, and it’s usually $40 – $70 less than OEM. We only use aftermarket boards that we’ve tested in Houston’s heat and humidity, because a board that works fine in a dry climate can fail fast here when the opener sits in a garage that bakes past 110°F for five months a year. Bramwell Garage Doors Houston is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Raynor, so when we recommend OEM versus aftermarket, it’s strictly about what fits and what lasts.

Signs Your Raynor Opener Logic Board Is Failing
- Wall button works, but every remote has died. The board’s radio receiver has burned out, which happens over time with power surges from Houston thunderstorms. A new remote won’t fix it, because the receiver lives on the board itself.
- Opener runs for half a second and stops, with the lights flashing. That’s usually not the logic board at all. It’s the RPM sensor or force settings, but a weak board can throw the same code, so we test the board before replacing anything else.
- Door opens on its own, or starts without anyone pressing a button. A failing relay on the board is falsely triggering the motor. This one is unsettling, and it’s always a board issue we take seriously because of safety.
- Learn button won’t enter programming mode, or the LED just blinks. The board has stopped responding to inputs. No amount of holding buttons and crossing fingers brings it back.
- Burning smell near the powerhead, opener completely dead. A capacitor or resistor on the board has popped. You’ll sometimes see a brown scorch mark on the board itself if you remove the cover.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Houston, you’re looking at $120 – $320 for a Raynor opener logic board replacement, parts and labor included. The low end covers straightforward aftermarket boards on common models like the Pilot II. The high end covers genuine Raynor boards on newer or less common models where the part alone runs more. You’ll know your exact number before we start, because we write it down and hand it to you. That’s the Kingswell Way, and it applies on every single job without exception. The written price includes the board, the install, testing of the wall button and both remotes, and programming the travel limits and force settings so the door doesn’t slam or reverse improperly. Every repair is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if that board fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. We also leave the job site cleaner than we found it. Every Bramwell technician is background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who’s pulling into your driveway. Call (903) 989-4180 and we’ll give you a firm price for your specific Raynor model.
DIY or Call Us?
An opener logic board carries line voltage, and that’s where we draw the line for what a homeowner should touch. Even with the opener unplugged, capacitors on some Raynor boards can hold a charge long enough to give you a shock. If you’re comfortable with a screwdriver and want to narrow things down first, you can safely do two things: check the breaker and the outlet the opener plugs into, and inspect the wiring at the back of the board for a loose connector. Beyond that, leave the board work to someone who does it every day. We’re usually in and out in about an hour, and you never pay a fact-finding fee to have us take a look. If you’re in Houston and your Raynor opener is acting up, call (903) 989-4180 and we’ll get someone out to diagnose it straight.
FAQs
A Raynor logic board typically lasts 8 to 12 years in Houston, though power surges from summer thunderstorms and sustained heat in the garage can shorten that to 5 or 6 years on openers that run multiple cycles a day. If your opener is past its tenth year and the board has failed, replacing the board is almost always cheaper than a full opener swap, and we’ll tell you honestly which route makes more sense for your specific model. Call (903) 989-4180 for a straight answer.
Sometimes, but rarely in a way that lasts. A burnt relay or a bad capacitor can be soldered out and swapped, but the underlying cause, usually heat or surge damage, remains. For most Houston homeowners, a replacement board is the cheaper and more reliable fix. We’ll only offer a component-level repair if we believe it’ll hold up under a Houston summer.
Most Raynor logic board replacements take 45 to 90 minutes from the time the technician opens the powerhead to the moment the door is programmed and tested. The actual board swap is quick. The time goes into confirming the part number, seating the connectors properly, and running the travel-limit and force calibration so the door behaves exactly as it should.
We carry common Raynor-compatible logic boards on our trucks, and we also stock boards for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers. If we arrive and your board is one we don’t have on hand, we’ll have it within a day or two and return to finish the install. Either way, the diagnostic visit is always free and the price is always written before work begins.
